Nicha Sursock is an Egyptian born Lebano-Croatian artist, born in 1951, currently residing between Vienna and Split in Croatia. He studied film direction in Brussels and started a career as an illustrator in l'Orient-Le Jour, a leading Lebanese daily and le progrès égyptien. The artist uses caricature as a way to tell history, making it lively and easy for young kids and adults alike to connect with, The idea first came to him when his son struggled to understand history at school and so he began drawing events for him in a playful style. Almost immediately, the artist's son not only understood but excelled at history, rising to the top of his class. That experience illustrates how powerful art can be in bringing history to life.
