Shown here is part of the Lower River Battery at Fort Donelson, Tennessee, which is the historic site of the Battle of Fort Donelson, of the American Civil War. At the time, it was under Confederate hold until its capture and ultimate victory by Union forces 11 - 16 February 1862. It overlooks the Cumberland River, on which the Union ironclad gunboats would have originally attacked from.
