A photograph showing US Marines and their trained dogs during the battle of Guam, in the Mariana Islands, which took place in July and August 1944 during the Pacific War of the Second World War (1939-45). Dogs were used in the Pacific War to sniff out hidden enemy soliders and mines, amongst other duties like guarding camps at night.
