Portrait of Baronne de Crussol
A 1785 oil-on-panel portrait by Élisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun of French nobelwoman Baronne de Crussol Florensac. The striking red dress and hat are rendered using cochineal pigment which would have made them very expensive indeed.
