Rachel Porter

Hi, I'm Rachel. I am a California (Bay Area) native living in the Netherlands with my husband, son, and two cats, Felix and Maxine.

I have loved history ever since I was exposed to Ancient Egypt in middle school. That passion for the ancient world has endured: at UC Berkeley, where I earned my BA in history, I focused my studies on the Ancient Mediterranean and wrote a senior thesis on the cult of Isis in the Roman West. While a student, I spent a semester in Rome, immersing myself in Roman history.

While ancient history is my first and deepest love, I am passionate about history generally, and regularly read books for pleasure on topics in global history through the Enlightenment. I also love travel, nature and plants, bird watching, cooking, and baking.
