Head of a Buddha from Borobudur Download Full Size Image

This head of a Buddha made from andesite comes from the ancient Buddhist temple of Borobudur, which is located on the island of Java in what is now present-day Indonesia. This specimen dates from the 9th century CE. (Museum Rietberg, Zürich).
