A portrait of General Herbert Kitchener (1850-1916), who was Sirdar of the Egyptian Army from 1892. In this capacity, Kitchener led an Anglo-Egyptian-Sudanese army into Sudan and won the battle of Omdurman in 1898 and the Mahdist War the year after.
