During his famous midnight ride, Paul Revere wakes the residents of the town of Lexington, including Samuel Adams and John Hancock who are hiding there, in the hours before the Battles of Lexington and Concord (19 April 1775). Painting by Hy Hintermeister, 1924 (the identity of the painter is unclear; it is either John Henry Hintermeister or his son Henry Hintermeister, both of whom used the same signature).
