An 1880 oil on canvas, Still Life with Oranges, by Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) the French post-impressionist painter. A work showing a strong influence from Paul Cézanne (1839-1906), it has strong tones and a contrast of hard and soft edges. The picture has been built up using very small brushstrokes.
