Probus (Artistic Facial Reconstruction)
Probus (r. 276-282 CE) became Roman emperor with the support of his troops and spent his reign vigorously defending the borders of the Roman Empire and attempting to promote civic and agricultural projects. He was killed during a mutiny in 282 CE, and the Praetorian Guard named Carus (282-283 CE) as emperor.
Pictured alongside the reconstruction is a bust of Probus from the Capitoline Museum.
