Tacitus (Artistic Facial Reconstruction) — View Full-Size Image

Tacitus (r. 275-276 CE) was already around 75 years old when the Roman Senate declared him emperor. Though he waged some successful campaigns against the Goths in his nine-month reign, he accomplished little else before dying in 276 CE of illness or violence.

Pictured alongside the reconstruction is a bust of Tacitus from the Louvre.
