Gere Sámuel-István

Biography

Gere Sámuel-István was born in Romania in 1997 and is of Hungarian descent. He went to general school in his native village of Sâncraiu/Kalotaszentkirály, where he fell in love with sports and history. Later he attended high school in the city of Cluj-Napoca/Kolozsvár. Here he was still eager to gain knowledge and to compete would it be in sports, geography, history or languages. He had his final exam in 2016 after which he applied for University Babeș-Bolyai - Geography department - Territorial planning. In this period he was able to travel to the United States for a Work and Travel program. He was working as a tent builder for events in the summer of 2018 and was able to visit New England, New York and Washington D.C. He finished his studies in 2019 but still left unsatisfied so he applied for University Babeș-Bolyai again but this time for Sports and Physical Education Department. Here he benefited from an Erasmus exchange program so he was able to study for a semester in the University of Applied Sciences in the city of Łomża, Poland. Meanwhile he was working as sports animator in adventure park, called Adrenalin Park near the city of Cluj. After finishing his studies he began teaching common Hungarian language for csángó/ceangăi kids in Eastern Romania in Bacău/Bákó county in the village of Somușca/Somoska. After a year there was an opportunity for him to return to his home village as a part time P.E teacher so he was working as that for two years. Next to his teacher activities he also was teaching swimming for kids, finished a personal trainer course and he himself also trains as a powerlifter/strongman. History was always part of his life, although he never went to study it on a higher level. He enjoys reading, studying about history or even playing it (Assassin's Creed wink-wink). He speaks Hungarian, Romanian and English fluently and French and Polish on a conversational level. He also plans to study more languages. He joined this community by the offer of one of his friends who also translates articles.
