Ancient Egyptian painting reached its highest development in the New Kingdom Period (c. 1570- c.1069 BCE). Some of the finest work is found in the private tombs at Thebes; this example is from the tomb of Nebamun and Ipuky. It depicts workmen bringing offerings to a funeral, and it dates to the 18th dynasty or c. 1400 BCE. (Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto)
