Cardo Maximus of Serdica, photograph by Carole Raddato, Bulgaria, 09 August, 2024.
The cardo maximus, the main north–south street of Roman Serdica, preserved in the Ancient Serdica Archaeological Complex in Sofia, Bulgaria. The street connected the northern and southern gates and was originally almost twice as wide, with colonnaded porticoes along both sides. The surviving pavement dates mainly to the 5th–6th centuries CE.
