Benjamin McCulloch, photograph by an unknown photographer, 1811-1862.
McCulloch became a Brigadier General of the Confederate States when Texas seceded from the United States of America in 1861, and during the American Civil War, he played an influential role as a Confederate commander, contributing to the Confederate victory at the Battle of Wilson's Creek. McCulloch was ultimately killed in action at the Battle of Pea Ridge in 1862.
