The inscription reads: “... factus domus Templi Portugalis procurator, hoc construxit castrum Palumbare, Tomar, Ozezar, Cardig, et hoc ad Almourol ...” (... having been appointed proctor of the House of the Temple in Portugal, he built this castle of Pombal, Tomar, Zêzere, Cardiga, and this one at Almourol ...).
