The inscription reads: “... *factus domus Templi Portugalis procurator, hoc construxit castrum Palumbare, Tomar, Ozezar, Cardig, et hoc ad Almourol* ...” (... having been appointed proctor of the House of the Temple in Portugal, he built this castle of Pombal, Tomar, Zêzere, Cardiga, and this one at Almourol ...).
