British troops landing on the Falklands at San Carlos, photograph by Graham Colbeck, The Falklands, May 1982.
An amphibious assault at San Carlos was carried out by UK forces during the Falklands War (April-June 1982) in order to surround the garrisoned Argentine forces nearby. The landings were part of larger naval and aerial skirmishes where British forces eventually retook the islands.
