An 1896 oil on canvas landscape, Roofs of Old Rouen, Grey Weather, by Camille Pissarro (1830-1903), the Danish-French impressionist painter. The artist has built up his composition using blocks of grey and red and the brushwork varies across the painting. Pissarro was particularly pleased with the result. The view is from the hotel window the artist was staying in. (Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio, USA)
