This statuette, the so-called Aphrotide Heyl, is one of the most beautiful ancient terracottas in existence. The close-fitting robe of the goddess of love has slipped from the shoulders; her raised left leg perhaps stood on a pillar. The front of the figure, which was shaped in a mold, was carved using a modeling scaper and finally painted. Probably from Myrina (Aeolis), Turkey. Clay. Acquired in 1930 CE; from the Heyl Collection in Darmstadt. 2nd century BCE. It is on display at the Altes Museum in Berlin, Germany.
