Catherine of Valois
Catherine of Valois (1401-1437) was an important figure in the politics of England and France. Daughter of King Charles VI of France (r. 1380-1422), she married King Henry V of England (r. 1413-1422) in 1420 and became queen consort of England. This marriage bore Henry VI (l. 1421-1471) who had claim to both the English and French thrones. After the death of her husband, Catherine married Owen Tudor (l. c. 1400-1461). This was a controversial match, but ultimately the beginning of the future Tudor dynasty.
