Biography
My name is Malyka, and I am a high school student, currently a senior, with a long-standing passion for both art and art history. Ever since I was very young, I have been fascinated by the visual arts and the historical traditions behind them. I am classically trained as a Persian and Mughal miniaturist, as well as a manuscript illuminator—disciplines that have helped me appreciate the beauty of detail and storytelling through traditional techniques. While I enjoy art history in general, I have a particular interest in South Asian art and its rich heritage.
Visiting museums is one of my favorite activities. I’ve been fortunate to visit several, where I take notes and photographs to further my understanding of historical works and cultural contexts. When I was a freshman taking AP Art History, I found the resources on the World History Encyclopedia (WHE) incredibly helpful. Inspired by the value they provided me, I decided to contribute regularly to the platform to support other aspiring artists and art historians like myself.
Since then, I’ve been proud to be a regular contributor to WHE, sharing images and insights to make art history more accessible and engaging. I plan to continue making consistent contributions and hope to reach as many students and lifelong learners as possible through my work.
