Biography

After graduating with a degree in History, I began working as a content writer for a coin dealer. It introduced me to a number of topics about the ancient world that I hadn't previously considered: the origins of money, the first forms of credit and lending, and the origins of different systems of weights. Although I spent much of my undergraduate work studying modern history (The Enlightenment of the 18th century), I found that the ancients always cropped up and had something to contribute to the study of developments in the classical period of nation-state building in Europe. Much of what makes The Enlightenment compelling is its rediscovery of the wisdom of antiquity; this is even more the case with the Renaissance of the 14th and 15th centuries, or the neoclassical wave of art (especially on coins) in the 19th century. This is the lens through which I've come to appreciate and understand ancient history.
