Gijs van Donselaar

Biography

Gijs van Donselaar is a retired teacher and researcher in Ethics and Political Philosophy at the Universities of Amsterdam and Leiden in The Netherlands. He obtained his Master and Doctoral degrees in Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. He has published both in Dutch and English. Part of his early childhood, he was raised in the inland of the former Dutch colony of Surinam, among the Maroons. It fostered his interest in the history of Africans on the American Continents. Presently he is working on the (first) Dutch translation of The Federalist Papers, which he hopes to publish in the spring of 2026.
