Apsara from Champa

Apsara from Champa — This lovely apsara comes from the city of My Son in what now present-day Vietnam. It was created while the region was ruled by the kingdom of Champa. It is made of sandstone and dates from the 10th century CE. (Museum Rietberg, Zürich).

About the Author

James is a writer and former Professor of History. He holds an MA in World History with a particular interest in cross-cultural exchange and world history. He is a co-founder of World History Encyclopedia and formerly was its Communications Director.
