The Louvre Download Full Size Image

The Louvre was built in the 12th century CE as a fortress, but the majority of that structure is gone. It served as home to the Queen and King of France until 1682 CE when Louis XIV moved to Versailles. In 1793 CE it opened as a museum and has been a museum ever since.
