Smbataberd Fortress is an ancient and medieval fortress located near the village of Artabuynk, in Armenia. It was founded sometime in the 5th century CE and endured as a major fortress in southeastern Armenia until the Ottoman-Safavid Wars in the 17th century CE.
James is a writer and former Professor of History. He holds an MA in World History with a particular interest in cross-cultural exchange and world history. He is a co-founder of World History Encyclopedia and formerly was its Communications Director.
