P. G. T. Beauregard, photograph by unknown photographer, c.1860 to c.1920.
This photograph shows Beauregard later in his life, and was likely taken towards the end of the American Civil War or following. Although having played an influential role as a Confederate general during the war, Beauregard eventually went on to take the oath of loyalty to the United States in 1865, and in the years following, was known to advocate for civil rights and black suffrage.
