The Virgin of Guadalupe with the Four Apparitions, painting by Nicolás Enríquez, Mexico, 1773.
This image depicts Our Lady of Guadalupe, an image of the Virgin Mary specific to Mexico/New Spain and her four apparitions in December of 1531. The top left corner depicts her first appearance to Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin. The top right, where he is flanked by an angel likely depicts Juan Diego when he was seeking a priest for his ailling uncle, Juan Bernardino. The image in the bottom left shows Juan Diego after collecting the flowers from the top of the hill of Tepeyacac, blooming despite the cold of mid-winter. The final image on the bottom right depicts the miraculous appearance of the image of The Virgin of Guadalupe on Juan Diego's clothing when he released the flowers in the presence of the bishop.
