The General History of the Things of New Spain or Florentine Codex, an ethnographic codex by Bernardino de Sahagún, Book 7, Folio 9v, Mexico, 16th century.

Written in the mid- to late 16th century, this collection of images and histories is one of the most important sources of information about Aztec and early Spanish Mexico. With over 2,000 illustrations across 2,500 pages and 12 books, this extensive work was worked on by native artists who preserved the unique style of Aztec art. This image depicts pages of the seventh book centered on astrology and natural philosophy.
