This Christian structure, dated 5th-6th century CE, is a richly decorated baptistery found in the ancient town of Sufetula — once Roman, then Byzantine, and later Arab — which holds artifacts and structures that span a wide breadth of Roman antiquity, from a pagan empire to a Christian one, and includes shops, an amphitheatre, and a number of churches and temples. The baptistry features an oval basin adorned with mosaics depicting a cross, florets, and laurel garlands.
