Capitoline temples of Sufetula, photograph by Carole Raddato, Sufetula (Sbeitla), Tunisia, February 13, 2023.
Depicted here is the ancient town of Sufetula's complex of three temples, dated c. 100-250 CE, dedicated to the Capitoline Triad, a trio of Roman deities: Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva. Sufetula is a significant archaeological site known for being home to the best-preserved Roman forum temples in Tunisia. The town was an important agricultural centre that later became a Byzantine regional capital, with the temples continuing to serve as a focal point of the city's impressive Roman and Byzantine architecture.
