The Alamo Cenotaph, photograph by Loadmaster (David R. Tribble), 2013.
Located near the front of the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, the 60-foot-high memorial depicted here commemorates the defenders of the famed fortress at the Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. Commissioned in 1936, the cenotaph features carvings designed by Italian-born sculptor Pompeo Coppini, with the names of those who died at the Alamo etched along the base.
