Cross of Sbeitla, mosaic, photograph by Carole Raddato, Sufetula (Sbeitla), Tunisia, February 14, 2023.

This early Christian mosaic from 5th-6th century CE was sourced from within Sufetula, an ancient town — once Roman, then Byzantine, and later Arab — which holds artifacts and structures that span a wide breadth of Roman antiquity, from a pagan empire to a Christian one, and includes shops, an amphitheatre, and a number of churches and temples.
