Depicted here is the work of artist Reynold Brown (1917-1991), best known for his evocative movie posters, including those done for other famous films such as Ben-Hur (1959) and Spartacus (1960). The Alamo (1960) stars John Wayne, Richard Widmark, and Lawrence Harvey as David 'Davy' Crockett, James 'Jim' Bowie, and William Barret Travis, respectively. The film, directed by Wayne, is considered by historians to be many people's introduction to the story of the 1836 siege and Battle of the Alamo.
