James W. Fannin, painting by unknown artist, included in Exploring the Alamo Legends by Wallace O. Chariton, p. 134, c. 1820s.

A planter and American military officer during the Texas Revolution, Fannin served with the Texian army, fought and surrendered at the Battle of Coleto Creek, and was killed by order of Santa Anna shortly thereafter.
