William Barret Travis (1809-1836), sketch by Wiley Martin (1777-1842). The only known portrait of Travis in his lifetime. Later paintings, after Travis' death at the Alamo in 1836, were more idealized. This is how Travis may have looked during the Anahuac Disturbances.
