On the slopes of Mt. Paiko the grove of Lake Skra in Kilkis, Greece, adds mythical elements to the flora of the Greek landscape. Kilkis is part of the ancient Macedonian region. If one could believe Herodotus, the origin of the Argead Dynasty, and as a consequence, the Macedonian kingdom lies in Perdiccas of Argos, offspring of the Temenids of Argos, whose progenitor was the legendary Hercules, son of Zeus.
