A c. 1883 oil on canvas, The Bridge at Argenteuil & the Seine, by Gustave Caillebotte (1848-96) the French impressionist painter. Like several of the other impressionists, Caillebotte was interested in presenting the contrast between nature and the industrial architecture of the modern 19th-century world. (Private Collection)
