Ardashir V of Persis | Ardeshir the Unifier | Ardashir I | اردشیر یکم (l. c. 180-241 CE, r. 224-240 CE)

A visual representation of Ardeshir I (the Unifier), founder of the Sasanian Empire (Larger Iran). This representation is largely based on visual evidence found on coins and a number of rock reliefs he has left in Naqsh-e Rostam and Firoozabad.

The color of the clothing and headgear (Korybos) is based on Hamza Isfahani’s (Iranian historian, early Islamic era) notes he had taken based on an illustrated, perhaps official, book of the Sassanid court.

“His vest is… Speckled with Gold, … his crown is also green on gold…“ (Hoyland, 2018)
