The ruins of the Praetorium of Gortyn which consisted of a peristyle court covering an area of 1000 m² with large halls. It was the residence of the governor of the province and also served as an administrative building. The Praetorium was built at the beginning of the 2nd century CE during the reign of Trajan (98 - 117 CE).
