Lana Ashraf

Biography

Lana Elmalih is an emerging translator with a strong academic foundation in Chinese and English, alongside her native Arabic. She has Bachelor of Translation in the Chinese Department at Kafr ElSheikh University. Her linguistic proficiency is further solidified by her ongoing studies with the HSK Standard Course at the Confucius Institution for Mandarin Chinsese and Lingua Stochos training for English.

With practical experience in general translation, subtitling, and captioning, Lana is adept at utilizing various CAT tools, including Wordfast Pro and Wordscope, as well as video editing programs like MS Clipchamp and VSDC. She is also proficient in Arabic proofreading, ensuring high-quality linguistic output. Her skills extend to digital marketing fundamentals and various software applications, demonstrating a versatile professional toolkit.

Lana has actively engaged in numerous translation competitions, notably participating in the Qiraat Sinia Chinese-Arabic Translation Contest and the 16th Kashaaf Al Mutarjimeen Competition, as well as contests organized by The National Translation Center. Her commitment to cultural exchange is evident through her participation in the 贺新春·迎佳节”中埃青年交流会 introducing Egyptian culture. Her brief work experience includes a role as an Illustrator and Book Creator at Dar Taallam for Publishing and Distribution.

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Lana is a dedicated volunteer, having organized departmental appreciation ceremonies and practiced tour-guiding with Chinese friends in Alexandria and Cairo. Her broad interests encompass art, sports, and travelling, reflecting a well-rounded individual passionate about cultural understanding and communication.
