An illustration by Charles Edwin Fripp showing the last stand of Lieutenants T. Melville and N.J.A. Coghill during the battle of Isandlwana in the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879. The two men tried to save the Queen’s Colour of the 1/24th Regiment, but both died in the attempt. The colours fell into a river and were washed away but were later recovered by the British.
