A gouache on paper painting titled "The Mirror and the Mask" 80's by Nicha Sursock. This is part of a series of 43 works representing the history of the USA.

An age of glitter and unrest, where fame became faith and art spoke from the streets. Between Wall Street's gold and the city's graffiti, America painted its own reflection. In the galleries of Leo Castelli, the new icons of a restless nation took form. Andy Warhol turned the ordinary into icons, the face into a logo, the moment into eternity. Beneath the shine of his silkscreens, America worshiped its own reflection, and Castelli's walls became its chapel.
