Interior of the Alamo chapel, photograph by Gatorfan252525, April 2025.
The Alamo, originally a Spanish mission, was a fortress garrisoned first by the Spanish, then the Mexican Army after the Mexican War of Independence, and later, most famously, by Texian forces during the Texas Revolution. The chapel as pictured here was the site where the final Texian defenders, manning two 12-pounder cannons, were overwhelmed in the Battle of the Alamo. The flags displayed are all those under which the Alamo has been held in its history.
