Ruins of Punic residences in ancient Carthage, photograph by Carole Raddato, Tunisia, 19 February, 2023.

Remains of Punic houses in the so-called District of Hannibal, the 2nd-century BCE Punic residential district of Carthage in Byrsa Hill (modern-day Tunis). The houses were preserved under the Roman forum's foundation, which was built atop the Punic ruins. The houses were organised into blocks separated by orthogonal streets, with shops on the ground floor and residences on upper floors, indicating a sophisticated urban design with features like cisterns and small courtyards.
