A contemporary depiction of King Charles VI of France talking with his royal secretary, Pierre Salmon, at his bedside. Salmon was an influential member of Charles' court and served in a diplomatic capacity during Isabelle of Valois' (Charles' daughter) marriage to King Richard II of England. He wrote an advice book for the king in the form of dialogues during his tenure as secretary.
