The Curia Julia is one of the best preserved monuments in the Roman Forum. It was constructed as an inaugurated space (temple) to accommodate the Roman Senate inside. What you see is a rebuilding after the fire of 283 CE of the Curia built by Augustus (r. 27 BCE - 14 CE). The Curia was converted into a church 7th Century CE, then freed of the accreted Church architecture in the Fascist era.
