Ovo poluostrvo je na zapadu ograničeno Tirenskim morem, na jugu Jonskim morem i na istoku Jadranskim morem. Unutrašnji deo Apeninskog poluostrva sastoji se od Apeninskih planina, po kojima se samo poluostrvo i zove, severni deo je uglavnom ravničarski, dok su obale oivičene liticama.
