Ah Puch, the Mayan [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) of [death](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Death/), is often represented as having an owl's head since owls were considered symbols of death to the ancient [Maya](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Maya/).
