## Image Caption

This woodcut print showing the skyline of late medieval and early modern Zürich, Switzerland comes from Sebastian Münster's Latin edition of "Cosmographia," which was issued in c. 1552 CE. Münster was a famed German printmaker whose "Cosmographia" was one of Renaissance [Europe](https://www.worldhistory.org/europe/)'s bestsellers. One can clearly make out Grossmünster Cathedral with its twin towers in the middle-right-hand section of the image. Across the Limmat River, one can also see the double, rising spires of Fraumünster Cathedral, which is located across the Münsterbrücke Bridge from Grossmünster. The medieval two churches maintained their positions of importance even after the Swiss [Reformation](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Reformation/) and the transformation of Zürich into a Protestant [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/).
